Northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard to be closed for 60 days beginning April 15
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the northbound Loop 101 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard to be closed beginning 1 a.m. Monday, April 15 for up to 60 days for ramp reconstruction as part of the current Loop 101 widening project.
DETOUR: Drivers may consider using northbound 92nd Street or Hayden Road to Cactus Road to access northbound Loop 101.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Cactus Road to be closed beginning 1 a.m. Monday, April 29 for up to 60 days for ramp reconstruction as part of the current Loop 101 widening project.
DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Shea Boulevard to northbound 92nd Street or Hayden Road to access Cactus Road.

Northbound Loop 101 and Princess Drive/Pima Road overnight closure planned May 13-16
The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following closures in north Scottsdale as part of the Loop 101 (Pima Freeway), Princess Drive/Pima Road to Shea Boulevard Improvements.
PRINCESS DRIVE/PIMA ROAD CLOSURES (May 13-20)
- Princess Drive/Pima Road will be closed at Loop 101 nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m Monday, May 13, to Thursday, May 16, and then continuously from 10 p.m. Friday, May 17, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 20, for bridge work. NOTE: All ramps and the north- and southbound Loop 101 frontage roads will remain open and access to businesses and local streets will be maintained during the closure.
- WESTBOUND DETOUR: Drivers may consider using westbound Loop 101 to Hayden Road to eastbound Loop 101 to access Princess Drive/Pima Road west of the closure.
- EASTBOUND DETOUR: Drivers may consider using the southbound Loop 101 frontage road to eastbound Bell Road to the northbound Loop 101 Frontage Road to access Princess Drive/Pima Road east of the closure.
LOOP 101 OVERNIGHT CLOSURE (May 16-17)
- Northbound Loop 101 will be closed at Princess Drive/Pima Road from 10 p.m. Thursday, May 16, to 5 a.m. Friday, May 17, for striping work. The northbound Loop 101 on-ramps at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Raintree Drive will also be closed.
- DETOUR: Drivers may consider exiting northbound Loop 101 at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and taking the northbound Loop 101 frontage road to Princess Drive/Pima Road to access northbound Loop 101 beyond the closure. Drivers accessing northbound Loop 101 at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Raintree Drive may consider taking the northbound Loop 101 frontage road to Princess Drive/Pima Road to access northbound Loop 101 beyond the closure.

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the northbound Loop 101 off-ramp at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard to be closed beginning at 1 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, for approximately 60 days for ramp reconstruction as part of the Loop 101 widening project.
DETOUR: Drivers may exit northbound Loop 101 at Raintree Drive and continue on the frontage road to Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard.

Overview
The Arizona Department of Transportation, in partnership with the city of Scottsdale, will be widening Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) between Princess Dr/Pima Rd and Shea Blvd by one general-purpose lane in each direction and modifying existing interchanges to improve traffic flow on Loop 101 and the cross streets.
Project Elements
- Widening Loop 101 between Princess Dr/Pima Rd and Shea Blvd by one general-purpose lane in each direction
- Add a third southbound left turn lane at Princess Dr/Pima Rd interchange
- Convert Frank Lloyd Wright Blvd interchange to a diamond configuration
- Add right turn lanes at Raintree Dr and Shea Blvd
- Update sidewalks to make them ADA compliant
- Upgrade freeway and ramp lighting
What to Expect

Construction began in January 2024 and will take approximately two years to complete.

Work will require lane restrictions and full closures on Loop 101, the interchange ramps and cross streets, and will occur primarily during overnight hours and weekends to minimize traffic impacts. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.

Long-term on- and off-ramp closures will be required (up to 60 days).

ADOT will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers and on the project web page.
Previous Milestones
- The public was surveyed in 2020 to gather input on the proposed interchange concepts.
- The updated Design Concept Report (DCR) was released in February 2021.
- A Virtual Public Meeting was held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022.
